Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the Emotional Intelligence and Self Awareness Workshop course.

Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognise, understand and manage your own emotions, and to read and respond well to the emotions of others. It spans self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skill — the capabilities that determine how effectively technical skill translates into working with people.

Most workplace failures are not technical — they are missed communication, unmanaged stress, friction in teams and poorly handled feedback. Leaders and staff with strong EQ collaborate better, navigate pressure without escalating it, and build the trust that high-performing teams run on. Research consistently links EQ to leadership effectiveness and career progression.

Anyone who works with people: team leads and managers, customer-facing staff, HR professionals, project officers and executives. It is equally valuable for technical specialists preparing for people-facing or leadership roles.

Self-assessment of your EQ profile; recognising emotional triggers and regulation techniques; empathy and active-listening exercises; giving and receiving feedback; and applying EQ in real scenarios — difficult conversations, conflict, and leading under pressure. The workshop is deliberately hands-on rather than lecture-based.

Yes. Unlike fixed traits, EQ is a set of skills that improve with awareness and deliberate practice. Participants leave with a personal development plan, and organizations often report the differences colleagues notice within weeks — calmer meetings, clearer feedback, fewer escalations.

Online (live-instructor-led over Zoom) and in-person at our training venues across Nairobi, Kigali, Mombasa, Lagos, Cape Town, Addis Ababa, Juba, Cairo and Dubai. The workshop is fully interactive in both formats, and all participants receive the Perk Group Africa certificate of completion with a verification code.
