Training Course on Gender Responsive Budgeting (GPC012)

Training Course on Gender Responsive Budgeting

Training Course on Gender Responsive Budgeting

Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) is an approach to integrating gender equality considerations into public policy, planning, programming and budgeting processes. It examines how decisions on public revenue, resource allocation and expenditure affect women, men, girls and boys, and seeks to ensure that public resources contribute effectively to addressing gender inequalities.

This five-day training course provides participants with both the conceptual understanding and practical skills required to apply Gender Responsive Budgeting in their organisations and institutions. The course covers the relationship between gender and public budgets, budget processes, gender budget analysis tools, gender-disaggregated data, expenditure analysis, costing, gender budget statements and institutional mechanisms for integrating GRB into existing systems.

The training uses a practical and participatory approach, combining presentations, discussions, case studies, group exercises, practical analysis and applied assignments. Participants will examine experiences of Gender Budget Initiatives and apply GRB tools to practical policy, programme and budgeting situations.

The course is designed to support government institutions, development organisations, civil society organisations, programme managers, planners, finance and budget officers, gender practitioners and other professionals involved in policy, planning, budgeting and resource allocation.
